Wholesome food is the best preventative medicine against all forms of
disease. The cheapest and best way to save money on herbal pills and
formulas is to be nutritionally aware and to eat good, nourishing foods.
Food is less expensive and more potent than vitamins and minerals in pills
or liquid form. That is why I have listed food plants as well as their
medicinal qualities wherever possible. Wholesome foods can be the best
medicine for what ails you! All foods have qualities, which can stimulate
certain chemical reactions in the brain as well as other places throughout
the body. Will food ever be classified as drugs? In Canada we have seen
cayenne pepper being threatened of being taken off the market in many
health food stores in Canada. Cayenne has pain killing properties and many
pharmaceutical companies would rather you buy their painkillers I imagine.
Can we allow every aspect of our lives to be so degraded and manipulated by
money or government? St. John’s wort was similarly threatened because it acts
as an antidepressant. Tryptophan was banned for the mistake of one company.
Almost all food or plants have some medicinal value. Even lettuce has
narcotic properties. Although some things like green tea are not
recommended for most problems, you will find that it has its use as
cholesterol cleaner as well as many other uses. Tobacco, although harmful
in most respects, also it has its uses as a relaxant and an application for
skin problems. I am sure that too much alcohol is bad for a person, but it
also serves its purpose; it is also a relaxant, and in most cases red wine
cleans cholesterol from the arteries. Everything in life has the
potential to heal or hurt you, depending on how it is used. This is also
true for plants. You will learn that even some of the everyday foods that
we are so familiar with have potentially dangerous side effects if misused.
The human body is capable of healing itself from almost any illness,
providing that the proper nutrients are provided. These can be in the form
of a positive mental outlook, minerals, light, vitamins, and/or spiritual
nourishment. Prescription drugs are often unnecessary and can be harmful
when treating a long list of chronic problems including: arthritis,
coronary artery disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and immune
system problems (especially chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia).
Don’t wait for a doctor to tell you to take vitamins, minerals, and other
nutrients. After all they are taught to heal problems and not necessarily
concerned with prevention. Finding local herbs for what ails you can be
much cheaper than buying them packaged from health food stores. Health food
stores do not necessarily train all of their employees, thus it is
difficult to obtain a good source of knowledge from them. It’s hard to
maintain an optimum balance of vitamins and minerals when a person’s system
is overloaded with junk foods, nicotine, or caffeine. This is why I have
included negative side effects (contraindications or hazards)
affiliated
with the plants listed. I have tried to incorporate others strong will
against these products with an open mind. No one could practice all of the
recommendations in this book, nor should they. There have been many cures
in the past and I have tried to list most of them, hopefully for the
future. When rising costs of the health care system are such a big issue, I
wonder if it really makes sense to tell people that they can’t look after
themselves. After all, most people who buy natural products pay for these
themselves. This reduces the cost of health care for the government. The
pioneers had to rely mainly on what was available. They generally had far
more knowledge concerning natural cures than we do today. Many of the drugs
we now buy came directly from what others have used in the past. Can we put
a patent on life? the choices on how we live affects our health and our
lives. Less than 10% of the world’s estimated flowering plant species have
been researched for their therapeutic value. By understanding the
importance of plants we may learn more about them, and have a better
understanding of how to use them without destroying them, or us. God gave
us this earth to use wisely. Let us make the best use of it!
This book was written in two parts. The first part lists health problems.
The second part deals with plants and their properties, etc. Not all of the
materials in both sections are synchronized with each other. This means
that if a plant is recommended for flu in the plant section, it may not
necessarily be listed as being good for flu in the illness section, or vice
versa. Generally speaking, only the most readily available plants have been
listed in part one (illnesses). The first part of this book deals with
various health problems. As far as plant names are concerned, I have tried
to use names that I believe most people these days are most familiar with.
Almost all plants have several names in which are used by different people.
I have tried to list them as accurately as possible; however you may find
some overlapping. One problem is that so many different plants have gone by
or use the same English names. When English names are used in herb books,
much confusion exists. Only Latin names can correctly identify a species. I
have tried, for the most part, to identify plants with the best medicinal
properties. Almost all plants have some medicinal properties, but not all
plants have been used, or recorded, for medicinal purposes. Remember that
one type of plant has several species. These species all have variable
properties. Although all willow plants have been used for pain, several
species were used for other things as well. This does not mean that all
willow plants were used for the same medical problems. Though generally
speaking this may be true, such variables as weather, climate, soil
conditions and light play an important part of the medicinal strength of
the plants. I have listed many species, in hopes that the properties
mentioned are closely related. I believe that for the most part this is
true. Enjoy, learn, refer to this reference often, and may you remain in
good health!

I have spent over sixteen years researching and writing this book.
Perhaps someday this information will become essential. Is DOOMSDAY COMING?
Let's hope not! But if you can't get a doctor this information could come
in handy. I first wrote a two part book which cost me about $187.00 U.S. to
self publish one copy. I would rather give it away for free! But would
appreciate any donations. If you haven't got a penny a halfpenny will do,
if you haven't got a halfpenny GOD BLESS YOU!

The links on the sides should work. I am still working on all of the
links in the body site however. If you type a word or two in the top search
engine a search of those words will appear on the main page. Have patience,
I am working all alone, and am learning about how to set up a website
properly. I have researched this book (site) for over fifteen years so I
hope at least the information is useful. I need donations as my
computer is over ten years old. You can donate through PayPal (the secure method). to
